Address: 1-40 26th Street Fair Lawn NJ 07410My house is the middle house here:
, and from the front:
Note that if you enter "140 26th Street" into some of the online maps then you'll get the wrong location. It is "1-40" and not "140". Also note that most online maps place my house a little south; it has the right block but the house is closer to Rosalie than the jug handle. I've updated the Google Map entry so that it points to my front door, but other online maps may be wrong
By Train:
Get the Bergen County line (Hoboken) train to Broadway-Fairlawn.
The platform is raised above street level. The exit is at the south end
of the platform and you go down stairs to the street. At the bottom
of the stairs turn left (for a Hoboken bound train, this means walking
under the rail bridge). You are on Broadway, walking East. You need
to walk 5 blocks, crossing Banta, Hartley, Grunauer and finally Plaza
Road until you get to 26th Street. 26th Street is a wierd small one-way
street "jug handle" with a pedestrian crossing. There should be a carpet
shop on your left. Cross at 26th Street and then turn left to walk
up 26th Street. 1-40 is on the left (yes, the other side of the road,
but it's not a busy road) one house down from the corner with Rosalie.

By Bus:
From the bus terminal at the GWB, take the 171 bus (NY-Paterson). It
leaves from platform 24 (Front), between 6am and 1am. It's a 30 min.
ride, theoretically. Eventually the bus will reach Broadway Rt 4. There
is a stop at the corner of Broadway and 27th Street. Get off there. Walk
one further block to 26th Street, then turn right (Northwards) up 26th.
1-40 is on the left one house down from the corner with Rosalie.
If catching the 171 from the other direction, the bus stop is between Plaza and 26th.

By Car:
Take your best route to Rt. 4 (from Manhattan, just go over the GWB
and follow the signs). Continue on Rt. 4 until the highway divides
into parts (it splits off into Rt 208); stay in the lanes for Rt. 4.
At the traffic lights for 26th St turn right. 26th St is a wierd jug
handle and you "can't get there from here". Stay in the right lane and
the jug handle should take you onto Plaza Road, heading north. You will
want the next on the right, which is Rosalie. There is a firehouse on
that corner, so it's easy to see. On Rosalie, take the first right;
this is 26th St from the other direction. My house is 2nd on the right.
Note: You can NOT turn north onto Plaza Road from Broadway/Rt.4 You must use the jug handle at 26th.
If you are heading Eastwards on Rt 4 (eg from Elmwood Park area) then you can not turn left onto 26th Street. Instead you need to take the U-turn at Plaza Rd
